4 easy ingredients vegan ice cream |barefootveronicaluna

When I turned vegan 4 years ago, I  thought I was never going to be able to enjoy a creamy, dreamy, delicious ice cream. It has been an obsession of mine since I was a little kiddo. Taking every opportunity I got to buy ice cream or drink milkshakes (also my fave!) cause I mean a girl has to enjoy the little things in life, you feel me? And now that I’m vegan, the funny thing is that I literally get to eat ice cream or smoothies at all times of the day. For breakie – lunch – snack or dinner, I mean I make that shit with my eyes close ( to give you an idea on how many times I eat it )

And since I have a blog where I share these types of things, I thought that you peeps of the internet might  have a tiny obsession with ice cream, like I do , and why not make your life sweeter by sharing my super awesome (and easy) 2 ingredients ”nice cream” recipe.

Because let’s be real , I don’t have time to start making elaborate – raw – crazy ass ice creams recipe that you see out there , I am very debutant when it comes to recipes & actually trying to cook or bake anything comes close to a disaster if not a complete fail. I love to keep it simple , because the less ingredients the easier & usually the better!  So are you ready? Here it goes.

All you need to make a super satisfying, sweet, & delicious nice cream is.

*drum rolls*

  • 2 frozen ripped bananas
  • A handful of frozen strawberries
  • Cacao powder
  • Drizzle of agave syrup on top

*Option to add cashew milk for the extra creaminess (so I lied…it’s 5 ingredients)

 

And voila, there you have it! A perfect mid-afternoon snack to cool down on a hot summer day.

The fruit you decide to mix with the bananas is completely up to you, I also love blueberries, rasberries & mangos. You can also add no other fruits than frozen bananas and add some vanilla beans in it for a more traditional ”nice ” cream.

how yoga works for you if you show up | barefootveronicaluna

The past 3 years of my life have been very eye opening for me when it comes to taking positive actions on my own behalf. Just a couple years ago I was pretty much the president of the no self love club. So how did I get here? How can you reconnect with yourself and start doing more things that make you feel good?

Knock knock 

Of course it’s hard to practice self-care when you don’t know what is going on in your body. To find a solution you first have to know what the problem is. We spend so much time in our heads and our monkey minds that it is very rare we actually take the time to acknowledge how we feel in the moment. For many years, I was the queen of shutting down any communication with my body and completely lost connection with myself. How did I regain the ability to listen to my body? By stepping on my mat everyday. After just a few weeks of practicing yoga, I felt like I was coming back home.

Who’s there? 

Showing up for myself was the first step to regain the missing link. After comes the ” sticking with it part”. A lot of people think they hate yoga at first ( ps: I was one of those people! Yikes!) but if you hold on long enough, the layers start to come off and the magic happens. Soon enough I could catch myself taking deep breaths while in line at the grocery store, or in stressful situations.You start to feel things you might have been avoiding for a long time, remembering things you might have hoped to forget. All of it is stored in your body on a deeper level, and yoga simply moves it around until you have no choice but to face it.

Reconnecting 

Yoga taught me that it’s best to feel it all – the good and the not so good- rather than shutting it all out. Yoga is just the tool to help you open up a little bit more each day. Moving your body in a way that feels good for you, and slowly you start to open up from the inside. Linking breath and movement connects you with your body and the space around you, and making the choice to do so is what empowers you.

24 things I learned in 24 years | BarefootveronicaLuna

 

 

 

Being in your  20’s is a strange era , you are still allowed to act like you have no clue of what you’re doing (because you have no clue of what you’re doing) , you can still pull all nighters and feel relatively well the next day. It’s sociaby acceptable to live with your parents (and have no responsibilities), you can travel with a backpack and try to figure out what you want, you can start a blog and become a yoga teacher without people thinking you are crazy, ha! ( or just a little..)

It’s july 30, I’m sipping on a ginger & peach tea while listening to Lana Del Rey’s new album, and I am turning 24. I feel I am finally starting to think like a grown up and have real goals and plans like installing a mini bar in my living room. Jokes aside, I like getting older because it means I am getting wiser , learning new things, meeting new people, visiting new places, but most of all it means I get to live another day. Celebrating a new year comes with a lot of excitement, pride, self-reflection, and a great amount of soul searching. Here’s what I’ve learned in 24 years.

1. You are your own best friend.

 

 

 

 

 

I love being by myself, which is  a good thing since I’m going to be stuck with me forever ha! The more I grow older, the more I realize the importance of being patient and gentle with myself. Like any human being , chances are I am going to fuck it  up a couple times, letting go of the control and loving myself no matter what is the best way to get out of any situation.

2. Feeling ashamed about your dreams and desires is a waste of time.

I used to be shy when I told people about what I really wanted to do. Sometimes I still get little moments of doubts, but at this point in my life I don’t have any interest in hiding who I really am. The choices I make are my own and as long as I’m not harming anyone, there’s no point in being afraid of judgement because people are going to judge whether you do it , or you don’t!

3.  Family matters most.

Honestly, what freaks me out the most about growing up is the fact that If I am getting older, so are my parents. I am such a daddy’s girl , and I just want my dad to be here with me forever. Making time and truly being present with the people you love makes all the difference and trumps everything else.

4. Health is wealth

No more diets or crazy workout routines with no deep connection to my body or purpose to feel better. I only have one body and taking care of myself means doing yoga, eating plant based and staying hydrated. Getting older doesn’t necessarily mean illness if you treat your body right throughout the years. Staying positive, loving yourself and creating a healthy lifestyle is the best way to cultivate your health.

5. It’s okay to do nothing sometimes.

I no longer feel guilty for not doing anything from time to time. I learned to listen to my body and if it means i have to take it easy for a day, so be it! Being okay with who I am and where I am is something I remind myself every single day. Trusting that I am in the right place, at all times.

6. You are constantly evolving and changing and so are the people in your life.

Which means it’s okay to let go of certain people or situations that are no longer serving me on my journey. Being mindful with who’m I spend my time has become very important to me. It might feel like a sad thing to let go of old friends, but sometimes it’s the only way to move forward.

7. Being grateful is the new happy.

Everytime I catch myself being nostalgic I tried to bring myself back to the present moment and reflect on all the positive things in my life. Counting your blessings is the best way to keep a smile your face!

8. Enjoy the little things.

As I am growing older, I realize good times as much as bad times don’t last forever. That’s why it’s super important to enjoy the little things and never stop to be amazed by what a new day has to offer. A list of my fave little things are ; drinking coffee in the morning, seating outside in the sun, talking with my dad, listening to my favourite songs, doing yoga.

9. Set goals and meet them.

Life is too short to not follow through with the goals you set yourself.

10. Do what makes you happy.

There is no place for regret in my life. I truly believe I am at the right place at the right time at all times. Everytime I catch myself being anxious or sad is because I am not fully in the present moment. I remind myself to do what makes me happy everyday, which means doing as much yoga as possbile ,teaching, traveling, eating delicious vegan food and laughing. Life is too short not to be happy!

11. Other people’s opinion don’t matter as much.

At the end of the day what matters is how you feel and the thoughts you think. Because that is  what creates your reality- not what other people think of you.

12.Heartbreaks are not the end of the world.

That is right, when you’re in your 20’s and you’ve been in a relationship for a while and then it ends. Sometimes it feels like you just lost everything and you end up lost and broken. Good news is that just like the good times, bad times also don’t last forever. It may seem like the worst thing possible, but know that you’ll be fine.

13. Being different is good.

14. Love yourself first.

I have to say my 20’s are all about self love and healing my body from past wounds and I’ve been enjoying every moment of it. To think that in my teens I thought the concept of self love was ridiculous. Now I hug myself and say ” I love you” from time to time….it’s good for the soul! Self love care also comes in forms of warm baths, comfy socks, a glass of wine and a cozy night in watching netflix, but most importantly it’s an everyday commitment.

15. Work hard on your dreams.

I feel like my 20’s are there for me to build something that will allow me to live from my passion in the future. My parents always taught me to work hard for my dreams from the begining so I can reap the rewards later on. It’s never too late to start working on something that you love!

16. Be patient with yourself.

I’m not always going to get everything right and it’s okay to make mistakes.

17. Always come back to the present moment.

Sometimes I find myself being so caught up in the past or anxious about the future. In those times is where I feel the less productive or happy. Time is always passing and it’s best to just be present in each moment to fully enjoy life and the people around me.

18. Disconnecting from social media is good for the soul.

In 2017, it’s hard to not get hooked with social media. Especially when you run a blog and your job is to be on the internet. From time to time, it’s a good reminder to clear my head and reconnect with nature.

19. I am always learning.

I am a lion, I can’t help it if sometimes I think I know everything. But I bring myself back to earth and remember I’m always learning, which is the best part of growing up. Cause if you ain’t learning, what are you doing with your life anyways ?

20. Less is more.

21. Moments over things.

When I think about my best memories or experiences it never involves something material. But real people or events that happened that made me happy. I still talk about my trip to Asia with my travel buddy and we never get tired of going over and over all the amazing things we did. Those are most important.

22. Books will always be my best friend.

As long as there is a book to read, I will never get bored.

23. Don’t take everything (especially myself)) too serisouly.

Good thing I’ve never been very susceptible. I always take everything like a grain of sand and keep a light heart.

24. Where attention goes, energy flows.

I watched a great TED talk the other day about the power of mindfulness. And It was really interesting because the women in the video explained how what we practice everyday, is what grows stronger. Therefore, it is important to focus our energy on things we want to see flourish and grow in our lives like kindness towards ourselves and others so that everyday, it grows a little stronger.

your body is your buddy; 4 tips to make peace with it.

As someone who used to have body image issues & lack of confidence for years, I know that it is difficult in today’s society to look at our bodies and love them just as they are. As women , especially we live under a microscope. Anywhere we look there is a different billboard, ad on tv  or magazine  telling us how we should look. So we start to compare our bodies with these idiotic unattainable images of beauty. Which often lead to eating disorders , depression and anxiety. It took me a couple of years of mistreating my body before I realized that if I wanted to be happy, I had to start loving myself. That is why now I can say to anyone out there struggling with an eating disorder and seeing exercise as some sort of punishment, there is a way out of all the hurt. But It takes effort , patience and willingness to first make the shift mentally, before you see it physically.

4 ways you can make peace with your body & working out .

Be mindful with everything you do. Or at least try to, the best way you can change your perspective on your body and workouts is to know what your thoughts are when it comes to food, and simply observe how they make you feel. You create your thoughts , but you are not your thoughts. They can be changed and redirect to more positive ones. When you think of working out , what thoughts or feelings arises? Going to the root of your mind by creating stillness is where you can find more clarity.

Think of your body as a friend, not an enemy.  Our bodies are so magical and we don’t give them enough credit sometimes for how amazing they are. They can bend, run, sweat, move and dance. Its supremely intelligent , it knows exactly what to do with the food you eat to nourish you on a cellular level. It’s always working for you so that you’re able to thrive and do all the things you need to do. Just like a friend, you want to treat your body gently. The best way is to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and try to reduce your dairy & meat intake. The foods we eat have a huge impact on how we feel on the inside and the outside. Nourish yourself with vibrant, fresh food that make you feel alive!

Think of your workouts as a celebration. We often associate working out as a way of ”making up” for something we ate or drank. See what happens if you nourish the idea of working out to feel good, instead of looking a certain way. Just like yoga , when you’re in a certain pose, sometimes the true power is not in how the pose looks like , but the way it makes you feel. A good way to do this is to find a workout that you enjoy doing and tricks your mind into thinking it is actually fun. 

There is more than meets the eye. How about giving yourself credit for breathing ? The fact that you can walk ? That your heart pumps the right amount of blood for each artery , that your digestive system works for you at all times without having to think about it. Where your energy goes it’s where your energy will go as well, if you focus on the things you don’t like about yourself, chances are it will only get worse. The more you are aware of it, the more you are feeding that energy. Instead, let go of wanting to shape yourself a certain way, and start to trust the intelligence of your body. The shape/size/colour of your body doesn’t define you, but the quality of a person that you are that matter most Focus on loving and caring for your body, and it will love you right back.

jump start your day : how to make your mornings healthier than ever.

I hear this all the time from friends, students, family that ”they are not a morning person ” and how they would ”never be able to workout in the morning” and I get it , i’ve been there as well, because setting up a healthy routine is not something that comes overnight, its  like developing a talent that you didn’t know was there. I am not going to lie, getting up in the morning to do my workout is not ALWAYS my favourite thing to do , but I’ve never regretted getting it in.

A few reasons why I think working out in the morning is the best ;

  •  It makes me feel super energized (with all the endorphins pumping through my system)
  • I feel like I can take over the word
  • Its a good way to get it over with and leaves  the rest of my day to tackle other important shit I have to do.
  • I get some me time before I have to talk to someone and pretend I am a nice person( just kidding, I am a nice person)

Are you wondering how you can also feel these awesome benefits in the morning but have no idea how you’ll be able to get up early in the morning? I’ve got your back amiga! Here are my top tips on how to help you start your day when everyone else is sleeping.

  • Put 3 alarm clocks and place your phone away from you. So you’ll have to get up to actually shut it down (it will avoid you hitting snooze 500times)
  • Have your workout clothes ready to go. Before going to bed, put your clothes to workout somewhere easy to grab, so you don’t have to spend 10mins searching for it. + Seeing your clothes all ready to go will motivate you to just get up and do it.
  • Think about how you’re going to feel after you workout.  ” I regret this workout I just did” said no one ever! There is no good or wrong way of working out, its all about doing what you can and go from there.
  • Follow accounts on instagram that motivate you to lead a healthy lifestyle. Ah the power of social media! Sometimes I don’t want to workout and I feel like procrastinating, and then I check my phone and it always gives me the extra kick I need because I know theres people out there actually doing something with their lives and I’m like , hey me too!

 

I hope these help you and you find the little voice inside you that says YES I CAN DO IT and run with it, because at the end of the day what matters is what you believe and the choice you want to make regarding your health.

Now that we’ve got the ” getting out of bed” and workout situation covered. I want to share a few other tips on how you can improve your mornings.

Hydrate yourself properly. Water , water , water. As soon as you wake up you should drink 2 glasses of water. It gives your body LIFE. Think of a plant, you are a plant. And in order to thrive you need water & sunshine. Same same with you, but different.

Spend 5-10mins in meditation. It doesnt need to be anything fancy, most of the time I do it on my bed, with my crystals ( its not necessary) and I lit some incense, but thats all. Simply make sure you’re in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Meditation is a personal practice so I can only tell you what works for me. I like to focus on my breath, without controling it, I try to simply lengthen my inhales and exhales naturally. And each time I see my thoughts going in 1000 different ways , I come back to the breath.

Start your day in the right mindset.  Have you noticed when you start your day in a bad mood and you have that mindset that ” today is not a good day” and more and more crappy things start to pile up. Yea well that is kind of why you want to set a good intention for your day as soon as you wakeup. Where you put your attention, that is where the energy goes and it is what will grow and manifest into your life.  I like to listen to positive affirmations on youtube  and also inspirational podcast like” Yoga girl , conversations from the heart.”  

Stretch your body. Stretching is one of the best ways to wake up your body and warmup your core + activate your digestive system. Maybe you do yoga, maybe you don’t. But getting some stretch in like twist and forward folds to release any tension or anxiety that you may be holding on to, is super beneficial for your badass self.

how to motivate yourself on ”off” days.

We all have those days where even contemplating the idea of putting on some pants and be an adult makes you cringe. There are many factors that can make you feel depressed or anxious. And its okay , I mean we’re all human and life is not always rainbows and unicorns , but the good news is that it can be 90% of the time. I always think life is too short to be feeling sad, especially if you are reading this ; meaning you probably have internet, running water, a bed, a phone, families and friends. But I get it, you don’t have to touch the depth of hell to be ”allowed” to feel a certain way.  In my short 23 years of age, I have learned a few tricks to wipe out whenever I’m starting to feel off, lazy or unproductive.

Shake what your mama gave ya.

Meaning, put some damn music on and start moving! The urge of putting on earphones and listening to Sigur ros is very tempting when you’re feeling down and you’re allowed for like a minute, but after that put your favourite upbeat tune, close your eyes and just feel the song and let your body move to the rhythm (whaddup Katy Perry!) This works 99.9 % of the time, moving your body automatically raises your vibration and puts you in a better state of mind. Your body is releasing endorphins, your brain is slowly changing its thoughts and your heart is pumping full blood & oxygens everywhere aka your cells are refreshed & whole body feels alive. 

Read a book.

Reading a book is a great way to just put your mind else where and be transported into the story. It allows your imagination to run free and get centered. If you can ,reading outside is even better , just feeling the air on your skin and being in nature maybe at a park or near the water. Reading any book is fine, but  I would suggest to read a book that inspires you like BIG MAGIC or EAT PRAY LOVE, you know what I mean. Something that gives you faith in your own damn brilliance and reminds you that you are a badass (also a great book!)

Go to a yoga class.

Getting your booty to a yoga class is one of the best ways to motivate yourself and you don’t even have to wear real pants, so theres basically no excuse. It may seem like a bummer to leave the house but I promise once the class starts you will be so happy you went! Chances are you will feel refreshed and energized, but no matter what you will leave the studio feeling 100x better than before the class . PINKY PROMISE!

Watch videos that inspire you.

Sometimes we don’t feel motivated because we don’t have any inspiration, but why wait for the inspiration to pour out of you ? You can also give it a little help and get it from the outside. I know for me, when I don’t feel motivated to workout or I lack inspiration to write a blog post ,for example, I always try to watch a TED talk or look at pictures on intagram and pinterest to get the juice flowing. Its okay to feel un-inspired , it happens to everyone but the good news is that there are many tools out there to help you get the inspiration back , sometimes just watching a quick 3 mins motivational video is the lil ‘ pep talk you need.

Meditate.

Instead of feeling bad that you feel bad,  you can just let it be , and focus on your breath. Its important to remember that emotions are like waves , and we can choose which ones to ride, you don’t have to give importance and energy to every single thought that you have. That is why meditating is so cool because you can let your monkey mind do its thing, but you don’t have to focus on any of them, just watch them pass by as if they were leafs just sliding down with the current, letting go of any attachment. You can also add some affirmations , my faves are ” all is well’ and ” I believe in the good things coming” , everytime I feel anxiety or doubt creeping on me, I take a few deep breaths and repeat it to myself, and I immediately fall into trust instead of fear, and that my friend is the best way to shift your mindset.

Make a list of things your grateful for.

Where attention goes, energy flows. That is why you want to start paying attention to all the little things that you have right now that make you happy. We are so used to certain things in our lives that often we take them for granted. Writing them down  will remind yourself of all the blessings in your life, and every day when you feel your attention going towards more negative thoughts, you can bring it back to here, right now and focus on the list you made, and everyday try to add one more thing so that it keeps growing and slowly you will train your mind to see the positive for every situation.

5 easy un-usual summer drinks

I don’t want you to think that I am in any way ,an expert in making drinks. I just know I like when things are simple but still get my taste buds excited. I’m the type of girl that finds one drink that works for her, and stick to it. In this case, its more like 5 of my favourites that I love to swipe out whenever I’m at a bar, by the pool or by myself in the living room. Also, note that I don’t do measurements, I trust my own feelings.

TEQUILA AND PINEAPPLE JUICE.  

Did your mind just exploded right about meow. It is honestly the easiest and tastiest combo ever. Maybe you’re afraid of tequila, maybe you’re last memories (or the ones you can’t remember) are made of tequila and disaster after taste. One more reason you should combine it with something else so it doesnt smack you in the face. I discovered it while in Asia, my friend and I are both tequila lovers and we would always drink tequila and pineapple juice. People would look at us with fear and confusion in their eyes. But hey, its tasty , its not too sweet and you can  add a little sparkling water to give it a sassy touch + ice. You’re welcome.  

RED WINE AND COCONUT/PINEAPPLE WATER

I might have a slight obsession with pineapples (pineapples are LIFE) , but its because they go with everything. I just recently discovered this one. Its perfect when you have cheap wine and want to cover the taste, or when you want to make a very easy and unique sangria, ( + the coconut water keeps you hydrate so could basically drink it on your way do yoga, wink wink. )

 

WHITE VELVET

Cider & beer heaven, I love cider but hate beer. When I combine the two, something magical happens.Its velvety, creamy and super easy to make +tyou also sound like someone who knows what they’re doing when you order it at the bar.

 

GIN & MINT KOMBUCHA

Gin is not on my favourite’s list but give me a kombucha anytime and I’m a happy girl. Maybe there’s something about mixing two opposites together. The bubbles and taste of the kombuch gives that extra ” aha” to the super easy drink. And if you say it quickly, it sounds like you’re just drinking kombucha.

 

TEQUILA & LYCHEE

 

At this point this is not even a surprise anymore. I love tequila and I feel like any drink that is tequila based is a good drink. BUT for you normal people out there it might be a little intimidating. Don’t you be, tequila is your friend when you know how to approach it.  Just  add one ounce of tequila in the mixer with lychee juice ( natural if possible) with ice. Add some fresh lychees in your glass for that extra touch. Voila.

top 10 movies of all time.

I usually black out as soon as someone asks me about what is my favourite anything. Except for movies, I know from the back of my hand what my favourite movies are. The hardest part is to actually FIND a good movie to watch without having to scroll for 3 hours and end up not watching anything ( and by anything I mean countless of goat videos on youtube.) So let me help you skip the whole existential crisis when it comes to choosing a movie. Here is a list the  top 10 movies for you all internet frands.

MOMMY

Xavier Dolan is one of my favourite movie directors ever. In fact if it would be for me, this entire list would be filled with his movies.

 

I ORIGINS

I’ve watch this movie maybe a couple times, and by a couple times I mean 100 times. The first time netflix recommended it to me (thanks homie!) I didn’t pay attention to it. Then I got a call from my sister telling me I absolutely had to watch this movie called ” I origins” , of course. I coudnt stop crying, the whole movie’s soundtrack is now on my phone & I now strongly believe we live multiple lives. Writing about how good it is makes me want to watch it again + its on netflix.

DANCER IN THE DARK

I saw this movie back when I was in Cegep( pre-university school in Quebec) in a cinematography class  and it completely changed my life. Not a single  eye was dry in class ,after this movie ended and it made me re-evaluate my whole life, because DAMN. This movie hits you, and it hits you hard. I usually hate musicals but dancer in the dark is like nothing I’ve ever seen. BJÖRK is the QUEEN. Her voice is outstanding, the melodies are on point, her acting is raw and moves you to the core. Get yourself some tissues, you will need them.

MUSTANG

Virgin suicides meets girl interrupted kind of vibe. This movie is unbelievably well done. The cast is incredible, the story is impacting and is based on true events. Unfortunately so many women are still not heard and, in many countries, their rights are completely shut. This is the story of 5 sisters living in Turkey and how their lives changed in a blink of an eye. If you want to know more, you’ll just have to watch it.

AMORES PERROS

I’m not going to lie, this is a hard one to watch. If you’re sensible when it comes to animals ( like I am) then you will have to cover your eyes for some scenes, but other than that, the story is worth the watch. One of my favourites for sure.

THIRTEEN

Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed are two little teen rebels. I watched this movie in the beginning of high school, the further I’ve gone in my rebelism was to skip classes, which is nothing compared to these two. This one is a classic , perfect example to show your kids if they ever think on going ” Thirteen” on your ass, they will end up with no friends and bald (okay maybe not bald,but you can just throw it in there.)

CAFE DE FLORE

 I absolutely adore this movie. Even if you think you know whats going on, you probably have no idea of what is really going on. Wait t’ill you get to the end. MY MIND IS BLOWN.

C’EST PAS MOI JE LE JURE

” It wasn’t me I swear” is one of the most adorable, funny and pretty disturbing movies I’ve seen. I stumbled on this one years ago, and its been on my favourites list ever since. Someone give this little kid an oscar, I’m serious.

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

This movie is the reason I will never do drugs, I feel like we all need to watch this once to see the importance of not taking drugs so lightly. Unforgettable movie,some scenes you will probably wish you could un-see.

LA HAINE

I feel like the more the list goes on, the more I’m getting dramatic with these movies but I can’t help it, I like movies that make me think about life and what is actually going on in the world. I blame it on my cinematography teacher that would make us analyze creepy movies, but turned out to be the best class ever. PS: this scene is ICONIC.

Thats it, I will need to make another list in the future because narrowing it down to 10 is harder than I thought. I’m sure you also have favourite ones and I’m curious to know which one they are?!  Leave a comment below, lovelies!

the yogi behind the blog – 20 things

As I am typing the title of this blog post I am thinking to myself ” Woa , that is ALOT of things to talk about myself” is it just me or it feels pretty awkward to just talk about yourself ? But I get it,  you are probably wondering who the f is this chick really ( or maybe your aren’t ha!) I know I  mostly connect with bloggers & youtubers that make me feel like I’m their friends (hola amigas!) Even tho, I take this blog seriously and it is a  professional platform because I am adult. I want to open up a little to you because I feel the best way to make friends is to introduce yourself and share food ( but I don’t like sharing food.) So here it goes , let me at least do one of the two things. Leggo.

1. I eat a LOT of bananas,  which for me is completely normal. But after having pretty much all of my friends and coworkers coming to me saying ” Hey! I ate a banana today and thought of you” and sending me pictures of bikinis and banana shirts , I feel like it is part of who I am. Now you know, I’m the banana girl #veganproblems

2. I talk fast and use a lot of facial expression. Everyone I meet at first is a little startled by how fast I talk, at some point in a conversation I have to stop and slow down because I  see the interrogation face on the other person’s eyes. I also realize I make a lot of facial expressions when I talk, like I cant control myself , my face has a life of its own and it likes to show other people my emotions.

3. My hair is dirty 6out of 7 days,  there is no point in cleaning my hair everyday since I basically eat, sleep, do yoga & workout. I am sweaty almost all the time between teaching and taking classes and working out.Dry shampoo is my adopted child.

4. Working out makes me happy, yes I am that kind of girl , funny cause 3 years ago I would’ve laughed at you if you asked me to workout. It really happened one morning to the next I was just tired of being a potato and feeling like a potato (don’t get me wrong I love potatoes!) but for my mental wellbeing, and  if I want to go through my day without wanting to punch someone in the face I need my workout, coffee & yoga. But I’m a nice person I swear.

5. I drink water all the time, at this point you’re probably like ” okay we get it, you’re healthy!” but its not just that, if you do hot yoga you know what I am talking about. After a class, there is not one ounce of water left in my system. So of course I need to refuel, but I also have a weird obsession with water bottles, I always need a new one. I just like having my water bottle with me.at all times. Pretty much my second adopted child.

6. I’ve been vegan for four years, once my sister came running from the basement and showed us a video footage of animals getting slaughtered. From that point I went on and did some research and cut all of the meat , except fish for a year, and then it was the eggs, and then I saw an awesome video on youtube from Gary Yourofski  , from that point on , I stopped everything and never looked back. Now I only eat Kale & tofu. Just kidding! 😉

7. I am half Colombian  , half Argentinian, I was born in Cartagena, Colombia and my dad is from Argentina. Like any Argentinian with dignity , my dad thought me to love soccer, specifically the Argentinian team and Boca Juniors. I get very nervous during the world cup its ridiculous. When Argentina won against the netherlands in the semi finals , I ran down the street screaming like a maniac. Thats how bad it is.

8, I love yoga, a lot. I bet you had a feeling on this one, I love yoga , if you read my little story  here , you know how it all happened.  

9. I read all the books from Virginia C Andrews, she is the queen of authors, she is the first one I’ve ever read in high school and since then I’ve made it a life mission to find every book she’s written and read it. I absolutely LOVE her. Unfortunately she died but I will forever cherish her work. Checkout THE HUDSON SERIES.

10. I play violin and sing 

11. I tend to obsess over things, especially music , if I love a song or an album, I am going to listen to it until my ears bleed. I cant help it! Current obsession ; Lorde’s new album, Melodrama. Its giving me life.

12. Hummus is my religion. Don’t mess with my hummus.

13. I’m a little hypochondriac, I’ve been working on this and I have to say that yoga has helped me A LOT , but sometimes it is stronger than me and I have to google my every symptom. Once I even gave myself chest pains from overthinking and stressing myself and I knew I was doing it to myself but I couldn’t stop thinking that I might be having a heart attack, le sight. Luckily, in Costa Rica during my teacher training, one of our teachers is a psychologist so she told me to see my anxiety as a zebra, you don’t see them that often. So instead of automatically chilling with the zebra, I can choose to stay with the horses.

14. I LOVE to travel. I traveled to Asia , Italy, Greece and Costa Rica, and I just think it is the best thing ever. I’m the only one in my family that thinks like that, my sister’s and parents don’t really like it when I travel. But I do, I’ve met the most incredible people and lived the most exciting experiences while traveling. Even if its not always butterflies and rainbows, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

15. My dream is to live by the sea. I cant help it ,  I’m a carribean gal who loves to be barefoot.

16. I grew up in Montreal.  No I don’t ski or skate during winter, I pretty much hibernate and wish for it to be summer. Oups. I love Montreal , it’s  a great city with many things to do but its not the best place  to work on your tan. I thought I would get used to the long cold winters,but I’ve given up on that theory within the years.

17. I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I was 13 when I asked my parent to buy me a laptop  because I wanted to write my first novel. I traumatized my high school french class teacher with some detailed horror stories I would write about a girl being beaten by her mother. Even tho I wasnt an abused child I would always write about that kind of stuff……creepy right?! I blame it on Virginia C Andrews.

18. I want to travel the world and teach yoga. One of the reasons I became a yoga teacher is because I LOVE to travel, and being a yoga teacher allows me to travel and still give my practice all my attention. I want to be able to make a positive impact and be aware of the energy I take from the places I visit so I’m able to give back as much as possible.

19. I love getting tattoos from different countries.  I’ve had all my tattoos inked in different places. It all started in thailand, Kho tao. Something about being in a tiny island with a tattoo shop at every corner that made me just go for it. It depends where I am and the inspiration I get from each place, I am very careful and choose wisely (most of the time...just kidding!)

20.  I love tequila. This probably makes me sound like the devil , but I really enjoy drinking tequila mixed with pineapple juice , its the best! I once took 8 shots of tequila and was still ”the sober” one who had to look out for her sister. Just to say, I handle it surprisingly well.
